What We Believe

What we believe at New Ground about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

What We Believe

ABOUT BELIEFS

The word believe can be deceptive; we would be naive to think that making intellectual propositions constitute belief. Believe is a trust. This means that while we can make statements, how we live into those statements reflect what we believe.

the church

As part of the RCA (Reformed Church in America), we are rooted in the historic, orthodox, Christian faith, which affirms these creeds:

We also acknowledge these standards of unity as historic and faithful witnesses of embodying the gospel in the way of Jesus Christ:

We also affirm Our Song Of Hope as a statement of faith, giving us language on how to live out the gospel in our time.

truth, jesus, bible, gospel

We believe the Truth is a person, and that person is Jesus Christ (John 14:6). We believe the Holy Scriptures are God’s written revelation to us, its sacred story guiding us into understanding the mission God gives us to proclaim with our words and lives: that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s story and is victorious over the kingdoms of this world through his life, death, resurrection, and ascension, and that He is inviting all people to be saved and transformed by his Spirit.

how we live

We live out this gospel mission by loving God with all of our being and loving our neighbors as ourselves, as Jesus commanded us (Matthew 22:37-39). We say our mission is "Living the Good News of Jesus 7-Days-A-Week."
