About Us

Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family

Who we are

Here's the deal, New Ground Church is a ragtag group of different people who try to live out the Good News of Jesus 7-days-a-week.

Where we come from

New Ground Church was started in 2013 by a small group of people. They became officially organized in the RCA (Reformed Church of America) in November of 2019. However, we have people from all sorts of different church traditions and those who did not grow up in church (including our Lead Pastor!).

Where we're headed

We're interested in living out the Greatest Commandment as Jesus taught us (to love God with all of heart, soul, mind, and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves [Matt. 22:36-40]). We believe the good news of Jesus Christ (which usually is called the gospel) is not a set of propositions to coerce others into, but the life of what it means to be fully human. Those we send recognize that the church is supposed to be good news to everyone. You'll see that passion in the way we embody our relationships.

What this means for you

Well, you'll get noticed. We're not a huge community where you can hide. So if you're looking for others to come up to you and talk, you'll find that here. It also means that we won't force you into anything, even if you're nervous or feel awkward. We just want you to experience the welcome of what families do. Our posture is that everyone that walks in the doors we treat like family.
